Before getting itself rebranded, SkyDrive was rumored to get the “co-owner” feature, an option that will allow you to share the ownership of a folder (and all the files inside it) with your colleagues and friends. According to a leak by LiveSide, this feature will be part of OneDrive.
SkyDrive had to rebrand itself after losing a legal dispute with BSkyB over the use of the moniker “Sky” in the Europe region. As part of the transition, Microsoft’s new cloud storage service wasn’t really expected to bring along any new ground-breaking features, but if the “co-owner” feature is indeed a part of OneDrive, it sure will make many users happy.
This new feature will allow you to share a folder with others, who will then be able to add, remove and make edits to the items of that folder. Besides, the co-owner of the file will also be able to keep a copy of the shared folder. "Co-owners can add, edit, and delete files, and invite people to a folder. You can collaborate with people by adding them as co-owners (to a folder). Co-owners can add folders to their own OneDrive and access it from anywhere".
The screenshot seems legit, but nothing has been officially announced yet. Co-owner, although in my opinion they can really use a different name, will prove to be very useful for people who have work which requires the collaboration of other users, as SkyDrive’s desktop client makes it impossible to sync files if you are offline.
